Located on the scenic Salmon River, just 23 km (15 mi.) north of Prince George. The city is the largest in Northern British Columbia, with an area population of over 160,000. All of the services and supplies necessary for your trip are available. The John Hart Highway is a paved, all-weather road that connects Prince George with Mile "0" of the Alaska Highway at Dawson Creek, 250 miles to the north. The drive is scenic and pleasant, with a west-east pass over the Rocky Mountains. There are frequent service areas, and ample opportunities for viewing wildlife.

Salmon Valley Resort offers 20 acres of swimming and camping on the river. All facilities are wheelchair accessible, including the showers and laundry. There is a well-stocked convenience store on site. The RV/campground has fifty treed sites, some with hookups and all with fire rings. Very long pull-throughs are available. Wheelchair accessible. Fishing is fair for rainbows, grayling, and spring salmon. Boat launch available. Just 12 miles north visit Giscome Portage Regional Park, site of the historic Huble Homestead. Guided interpretive tours are available, and admission is free.
