halibut was caught in 1987! After your trip we'll hang your catch for

shore line. The nearby beaches are uncrowded for leisure strolling,
beach-combing, bird watching, and gold panning. This was the site of
one of Alaska's first gold claims, and relics of the operation are
easy to find. The clamming is great, and the view is spectacular!
Southbound, turn right on the Old Sterling Highway, cross the river,

The city of Homer has areas set aside for RV parking and tent camping on the spit. Please respect private property, and register and pay when asked. New camping areas were added in 2003, and there is a lot of construction activity on the spit. There is a restroom/shower facility close to the Salty Dog Saloon.
